Welcome to Hollies Class

Hollies is a calm, structured and supportive learning space where clear routines, visual timetables and sensory‑friendly areas help everyone feel settled and ready to learn. Each day is carefully planned to include opportunities for exploring new ideas, practising key skills and developing independence at a pace that feels right for each learner. Our classroom environment is designed to support emotional understanding and regulation, with strategies, tools and quiet spaces available whenever they are needed.

Learning in Hollies is hands‑on, engaging and personalised. We enjoy reading, writing, practical maths, science investigations and creative projects that help us make sense of the world around us. Activities are adapted to ensure success for every child, and we celebrate progress, build self‑esteem and encourage confidence through positive, meaningful experiences. Kindness, patience and respect shape everything we do, helping us create a welcoming classroom community.

Our PE sessions take place every Wednesday and Thursday, and reading books are changed on a Friday.

Fun facts about the class team

 Amanda

 I like to hike in the Lake District with my family and I’m working towards climbing all 214 Wainwrights. I am currently at 111 so I have quite a few more to go!

I like to sing and I’m a member of the local ‘Rock Choir’ group. I sing in the upper alto section and participate in performances.

 I love going to the movies with my two teenage children.

I have been teaching for 22 years and love seeing the progress the children make.

I am entering my fourth year at Fellgate.

I have 3 boys who keep me very busy outside of work, my youngest has a ASD and ADHD diagnosis which led me to my career choice.

I love to read, socialise and take my boys on adventures.

I like to keep learning fun and memorable and love to see the children in my class happy and confident.

My favourite thing is spending time with my 9 grandchildren, but I also love when they go home!

I love to go on holiday and visit different places. My favourite city is Venice!

I love to bake sweet treats and am known for my amazing brownies!

I am the granny of the class and give the best cuddles
